I want to say I had some trouble syncing the video start with the DAW start? Take that with a grain of salt as it could be totally user error. However, you can trigger events from your DAW's music timeline and pipe the midi CC's into Magic Music Visualizer using something like Loop Midi on for PC (I think only available in the pro version) I cant recall if I ever really used that feature. It doesn't try to be Adobe After Effects and doesn't have any real timeline to work on. This Magic Music Visualizer works very much like a modular synth. a lot of this is happy accident/fun experimenting stuff. I then used a power modifier (x^y) and a 'smoothing' modifier as well. It's first affected by volume in the 1k - 5k range. I also was able to essentially 'modulate' that sine wave. Basically, each word was its own 'text box' and I added a sine wave modulator to rotate thru text box 1,2,3. Since a lot of us are synth nuts and have modulated a modulator once or twice, I wanted to mention what I did in the 'video software' on 'The Sound Den' text. I hope you enjoy this as much as we do!Ĭlick to expand. Many thanks for the kind words! With Wotja being VST3 now, I think (hope) that they got a real hit on their hands! Oh, the video was done in Magic Music Visual: įeel free to ask any question, leave criticisms, etc. The noise and foley sounds were from R.I.G. There are some keyboard sounds from Tape Piano II (from Thenatan) and I think a free music box sound from somewhere. The additional melodic & noise elements are midi data captured and edited from Rast Sound's R.I.G and Motif. The strings are the free Spitfire Labs Frozen Strings (I believe). The piano is the free upright felt piano from Westwood Instruments. The 'lonesome piano' and strings are from midi data captured and edited from Wotja 22. One thing led to another and after editing the Wotja midi and adding/editing some Rast Sounds midi from Motif and RIG ( /downloads/generative-collection/) this track came together in about 3 days or so (including my typical 'Aural Postcard' video). They did mention that it was in need of some 'smooth beats' so I got to work adding those. I never meant to continue on with the early tracks, but after about 2 days of having some unfinished loops on perpetual playback, the kids asked me if the music was mine as they really liked it. It started life as some 'Music to Study By' as the kids were doing school from home this past week with me and we wanted to create some atmosphere for office/studio. I recently just figured out the trick for making this work in Studio One 5 and ended up piecing this track together. Version 22 now comes as a VST3 plugin and you can route midi from it to whatever instruments/tracks you desire. It has always been a stand alone app, so I always shied away from it as it didn't really fit my workflow. I've been following and have demo'd Wotja ( /wotja/22/) over the years. So, I really enjoy using all these great midi generating tools that we have at our disposal.
